I Theme: my theme is movement and contrast in color.
-glaze patterns
-movement through glazes
-contrast between dark and light glazes
II what:
-white vase with shadow green glaze ring
-tall project
-set of three
-white and blue vase
-frankenpot
-white and blue bowl
III how:
-projects are thrown on the wheel, then footed, then bisqued.
-projects are now glazed. Decide what color you want for your base coat, then choose a color you want to contrast your base coat or show movement by running down the project.
-you can show movement with the glaze by either creating a pattern, dripping the glaze down the sides, or splattering glaze throughout the project using a certain brush.
IV why:
It is important to show movement/contrast in a project to emphasize completion as well as the shape of the project.
V conclusion: This is my second semester in ceramics. I completed beginning ceramics freshman year and had to refresh myself with the skills of throwing this year. Once my memory was refreshed, I caught on pretty quickly again with some practice. This year I learned the importance of glazing to make each project unique. I also got better at pulling up the wall smoothly. I found some of my projects from freshman year and noticed how thick they were resulting from not pulling the wall up enough. I learned that this is one of the most important skills in throwing.
